Allen is a passionate fan of jazz which is often featured prominently in his movies' soundtracks. He has played the clarinet since adolescence and chose his stage name from an idol, famed clarinetist Woody Herman. The documentary film Wild Man Blues documents a 1996 European tour by Allen and his band. After all, Woody Allen uses Jazz in almost all of his pictures. Do you remember Gershwin score dominated by "Rhapsody in Blue," in Manhattan? How can we forget the opening scene of Everything you always wanted to Know about sex with Cole Porter's "Let's Misbehave" playing while the credits role over a room full of bunny. Cinema du Parc offers you these three great movies and his Academy Award winning picture ANNIE HALL! Don't miss it!

"Three years after winning Cannes' top prize for "Fahrenheit 9/11," docu helmer and agent provocateur Michael Moore returns with more polemics-as-performance-art in SICKO, an affecting and entertaining dissection of the American health care industry, showing how it benefits the few at the expense of the many. Pic's tone alternates between comedy, poignancy and outrage as it compares the U.S system of care to other countries. Given Moore's celebrity and fan base, plus heightened awareness of the pic resulting from the heated battle that's already begun between left and right, returns look to be extremely healthy." –VARIETY

"While the discussion is, as always with Moore, a uniquely American one, audiences in Europe and other markets will want to eavesdrop for the sheer fun of seeing Americans wallow in problems they solved years ago." –HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

"Moore isn't the first to say that the health care system is sick — that it's riddled with inequities and iniquities. He's never the first to address a gut issue, whether it's corporate greed (Roger & Me), American violence (Bowling for Columbine), the politics of terror (Fahrenheit 9/11). But he's the one who does it the noisiest, with the highest entertainment value, mixing muckraking with showmanship." –TIME

Every month, DOCVILLE will offer audiences distinctive documentaries chosen for their sophisticated perspective, depth of feeling or daring form – from major investigations to personal essays.

Why DOCVILLE? The kind of documentary we are used to – shot with lightweight equipment, small crews and a human perspective – began, in fact, right here in Montreal in the 1960s, with people like Brault, Perrault, Groulx and others. Montreal is, par excellence, a “doc-ville” - a documentary city.
