MINUIT AU PARC

La vie de jeunes voyous de Manhattan au cours de 24 heures frénétiques. Les skateurs Telly (Leo Fitzpatrick) et Casper (Justin Pierce) passent leur temps à traîner dans les rues, à voler, à se droguer et à séduire les filles, tandis que Jennie (Chloë Sevigny) suit la paire à travers la ville, déterminée à les mettre en face d’une terrible vérité.  

‘’Kids est bien loin des teen movies classiques, naïfs et romancés. En faisant ça, il secoue un monde encore complètement empêtré dans ses tabous autour de la sexualité (tabous cristallisés par le SIDA et le VIH). Il renverse tous les codes du genre en vigueur avec sa signature indie extrême et sa mise en avant d’une sous-culture passionnante. Il brûle tout ce qui est connu pour poser de nouveaux jalons, et c'est aussi pour ça qu'il choque : parce qu'il est différent. ’’  (Écran Large)

Amoral teen Telly (Leo Fitzpatrick) has made it his goal to sleep with as many virgin girls as possible -- but he doesn't tell them that he's HIV positive. While on the hunt for his latest conquest, Telly and his best friend, Casper (Justin Pierce), smoke pot and steal from shops around New York. Meanwhile, Jenny (Chloë Sevigny), one of Telly's early victims, makes it her mission to save other girls from him. But before she has a chance to confront him at a party, everything goes horribly wrong. 

‘’Disturbing precisely because it is so believable, “Kids” goes well beyond any previous American film in frankly describing the lives of at least a certain group of modern teenagers. Celebrated photographer Larry Clark’s first feature is bluntly about sex, drugs and irresponsibility, and in an extremely upfront way that viewers will have to admit is very convincing, whether they like it or not. Clearly, a good deal of this is due to young screenwriter Harmony Korine, but for Clark to have understood the characters so well and won the trust of his young cast to such an extent ismost impressive. With Gus Van Sant regular Eric Edwards behind the camera (Van Sant is one of the exec producers), film has an exceptional visual quality, like a semi-documentary given the sheen of a beautifully lit professional feature.’’ (Variety)
